About
We all live in a world with more distractions than ever, yet we also each see more possibilities than ever to create - whether it's what we traditionally think of as being a creative artist or becoming an artist in how we approach our work at the office.
As a filmmaker and producer, I know that my success is owed as much to my own work as it is to my ancestors, my professors, my colleagues and my community. Currently I am the Senior Producer for the New York office of National Geographic Television. Besides the work I've put in to endlessly perfecting my craft, I have been incredibly lucky to have met many wonderful mentors, teachers, and opportunities along the way.
But I don't believe in the American fantasy of the rugged individualist, the self made man or woman. As Malcolm Gladwell so beautifully explains in Outliers, true success is where self-preparation intersects with fortunes of background, geography, and circumstance.
So what's this site about? Simple: It's my gift to you. I've been given the gift of a life circumstance that has allowed me to be inspired and to flourish, and I realize that not everyone is so lucky. The internet allows us to communicate regardless of the circumstances of who or where we happen to be. If my thoughts and words resonate with you and offer you some uplift or direction, as so many people have done for me, please take it as my gift.
I do not ask for anything in return. If you are so inclined, please share what inspires you here with a friend or colleague or someone who could use the help, but of course you're under no obligation to do so.
The creative process - whether you are creating art or business - is the process of blasting through obstacles in pursuit of the non-ordinary. And I believe in helping people to do this no matter what their life situation is.
I am doing this partly because I truly love helping other people discover opportunity. But partly it is selfish. I have learned that the more people who are being creative and living their life in a way that feels authentic and true, the better and happier a place this world will be.
